How do I use Stilo ?

To prepare Stilo for use, unscrew and remove the battery compartment cover (located at opposite end of Stilo from tip). Insert the AAA battery that comes in the box with the positive (+) side facing into Stilo, and re-attach the compartment cover. Stilo will automatically turn on, and the power button LED will illuminate. Remove the protective cap to expose the writing tip. Your Stilo is now ready to use!

How do I change the battery?

Stilo uses a standard AAA battery. Unscrew and remove the battery compartment cover. Remove the old battery and insert the new battery with the positive (+) side facing into Stilo. Replace cover.

How long does the battery last?

A fresh AAA battery should last for 10 hours of continuous use or one month of regular use.

What does the LED light mean?

Green means the battery has a charge. Red means it is time to replace the battery. No light means that the Stilo is turned off, there is no battery, or the battery has no charge.

Why the adjustable tip?

You can adjust the signal strength by rotating the tip end clockwise and counter clockwise. As it is rotated the tip will move in and out. When the tip end is extended all the way out signal should be at it’s strongest. All capacitive touch screens are slightly different. Some capacitive screens might prefer a weaker signal while others a stronger one. Adjust the signal strength on your stylus to get the best performance for the application and screen you are using. If you are using a protective film, a stronger signal strength will likely work better.

What devices does Stilo work with?

Stilo works with most smartphones and tablets.

What about palm rejection?

At this time, Stilo does not support palm rejection features.

What if Stilo does not write?

First, make sure you have not pressed the power button accidentally. Note that Stilo will shut itself off after five minutes of idle time to conserve battery life. If Stilo has turned itself off automatically, simply press the power button to turn it on again.
Make sure the battery has a charge and is placed in the correct orientation with the positive side facing into the Stilo. If the battery is functioning, you should see the power LED glow either green or red when you press the power button. If it glows red or does not glow at all, replace the battery.
If you have a screen protector on your device, you may need to adjust the Stilo’s signal strength. Simply rotate the Stilo’s adjustable writing tip with your finger to lengthen or shorten the tip. The longer the tip, the greater the signal strength.

Using Performance Film

How does Performance Film work?

The surface of your tablet is smooth and slippery – unlike paper, which creates friction under the tip of a pen. Precision Film provides just the right amount of texture to keep your Stilo (or other stylus) from sliding, giving you a natural, controlled experience while protecting your screen during everyday use.

What devices can I use Performance Film with?

Precision Film works with most tablets and smartphones. Please check our store for compatible devices.

How do I install Performance Film?

Step 1: Remove any existing screen protector, case, or cover from your electronic device.
Step 2: Using the cloth included with your Precision Film (or any microfiber cloth), carefully clean the screen. Ensure that you remove all grime, fingerprints, and dust particles, and check for existing scratches. If your screen is scratched, Precision Film may not work properly.
Step 3: Remove your Precision Film from its bag and peel off the backing. Be careful not to touch the back side of the Precision Film; this will make it less sticky.
Step 4: Pinching the edges of your Precision Film between your fingers, carefully align it with the edges of your screen, making sure that buttons and any other cutouts line up properly.
Step 5: Starting in the middle of your screen, slowly press the Precision Film into place with your fingers. For best results, start in the middle of the screen and work outward; applying the protector to the entire screen at once may result in bubbles.
Step 6: If there are any small bubbles under your Precision Film, use the included smoothing card to firmly squeeze them toward the edges. Any tiny air pockets should disappear within a day or so.
Step 7: Remove the thin protective film from the front of your Precision Film. Your Precision Film is now ready to use with your Stilo for a natural, controlled experience!

1-Year limited warranty

1 Year Limited Warranty

Stilo warrants that the product will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase. In general, this warranty means your Stilo hardware product will operate in accordance with published technical specifications while under normal use in the operating environment for which it was intended for the length of the warranty period. This warranty is limited to the original purchaser of Stilo hardware product purchased from an authorized resellers and is not transferable. This warranty provides you with specific legal rights, and you may have additional rights that vary under local laws.

Remedies

Stilo’s sole and exclusive responsibility and the customer’s sole and exclusive remedy for any Stilo product that is not operating in accordance with its published technical specifications is at Stilo’s discretion:

1) to repair or replace the product at Stilo’s expense, or 2) to refund the price paid less a

usage fee of 10% of the purchase price for each year since the date of purchase. This warranty obligation is conditioned upon the hardware being returned to the original place of purchase, or another place as directed by Stilo, with the original sales receipt attached. You may be required to pay shipping and handling charges, as well as any applicable tariffs, duties, taxes, or other fees.

Any repaired or replacement hardware will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or thirty (30) days, whichever is greater, or for the period of time required by local statute.

Conditions

If you return product to Stilo (a) without an RMA request or (b) without all parts included in the original package or (c) without the Stilo RMA # listed on the shipping box, Stilo retains the right to either refuse delivery of such return or refuse replacement.

Shipping and handling charges are not refundable unless Stilo determines that: (1) the charges requested are legitimate and reasonable; and (2) the Product is inoperable and/or fails to operate substantially in accordance with the accompanying documentation through no fault of the original purchaser or through no fault of a third person, including the limitations and/or disqualifying actions expressed in the Stilo 1-Year Limited Warranty.

Obsolete or Discontinued Products

An obsolete or discontinued product will be replaced with the same product if available. If Stilo is unable to replace your obsolete or discontinued product with the same product, Stilo will replace the obsolete or discontinued product, in its sole discretion, with a product having similar function and capacity.

Exclusions

This warranty does not cover problems or damage resulting from, but not limited to, any of the following:

• Wear and tear associated with normal use.

• Any modification, abuse, accident, disassembly, misapplication, or unauthorized repair.

• Any improper operation, including any use not in accordance with any supplied product instructions.

• Any other cause which does not relate to a product defect in materials or workmanship.

• Damage caused by or to the equipment with which the Product is used.

Also excluded from this warranty are counterfeit products; that is, products that Stilo, at its sole discretion, determines were not manufactured by Stilo or any of its authorized manufacturing partners.

Limitation of Liability

STILO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA (WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT) OR COMMERCIAL LOSS FOR BREACH OF ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY ON YOUR PRODUCT EVEN IF STILO HAS BEEN ADVISED PREVIOUSLY OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Some local laws do not allow the exclusion or limitation of special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation or exclusion may not apply in your jurisdiction.

Exclusion of Implied Warranties

EXCEPT AS PROHIBITED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ON THIS HARDWARE PRODUCT IS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. Some local laws do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty may last, so this limitation may not apply in your jurisdiction.

National Statutory Rights

Consumers may have legal rights under applicable national legislation governing the sale of consumer goods.

No Other Warranties

No Stilo employee, dealer, or other agent is authorized to make any modification, extension, or addition to this warranty.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

Before submitting a warranty claim, we suggest you visit stilopen.com/support/ and review the support section for technical assistance. A simple fix for your problem may be found there.

Valid warranty claims should be processed through your point of purchase during the first thirty (30) days after purchase. This period may vary depending on where you purchased your product; please verify the return policy with the retailer where you purchased your product.

Any warranty claims that cannot be processed through your original point of purchase should be addressed directly to Stilo via email to: support@stilopen.com.

To qualify for a replacement or refund, the following conditions must be met:

1. A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) must be requested from our customer support team via email at: support@stilopen.com.

2. A valid proof of purchase must be provided for RMA processing (i.e. receipt, invoice, packing list, copy of credit card statement and name and address of customer).

Shipping your product back to Stilo:

1. Returned Product must be in good physical condition (not physically broken or damaged) and in original packaging.

2. All accessories originally included with your product must be included with your return.

3. The RMA number must be clearly stated on the outside of the shipping box.

4. Only one product per RMA.

Wherever possible the original packaging material should be used to pack the product for return; if the original packaging is not available, you should use packing materials that provide the same or greater protection to the product. All packages that arrive with any external damage or appear inadequately packed will be refused and returned to the sender at the sender’s expense. Stilo is not responsible for damage incurred during shipping to our RMA receiving locations.

You should select a return shipping method that provides tracking information. Stilo is not responsible for lost or misdirected packages.
